Following the ratification of the Constitutive Charter of the Organisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC) by the Republic of Yemen and the depositing of instrument of acceptance to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Djibouti – the Charter’s depositary – OEC’s Secretary-General-elect, H.E. Manssour Bin Mussallam, received a visit from the Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Djibouti, H.E. Abdallah Moussalam Assoukatri.

OEC’s Secretary-General-elect expressed his appreciation to the Government of Yemen for its timely ratification of the Charter. He reiterated OEC’s commitment and determination to complement endeavours and initiatives undertaken to achieve the commitments contained in the Universal Declaration of Balanced and Inclusive Education (UDBIE) and re-affirmed that addressing the adverse socio-economic consequences of Covid-19, which have aggravated the educational impact of the armed conflict in the country, must be supported by effective and coordinated international, solidarity-based cooperation. The OEC remains resolved and determined to contribute – he said – towards the realisation of this objective in coordination with its Member States.

Ambassador Assoukatri expressed Yemen’s commitment to support the development and the implementation of the Organisation’s programmes of work and to explore ways of cooperation with the OEC in the pursuit of the country’s aspirations for equitable sustainable development and in rebuilding the educational system in Yemen.
