Secretary-General-elect met with President of Comoros

The Secretary-General-elect of the Organisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC), H.E. Manssour Bin Mussallam, met today with the President of the Union of Comoros, H.E. Azali Assoumani, at the Presidential Palace in Moroni.

Expressing his appreciation to the Comorian President for the country’s support for OEC’s operationalisation, the Secretary-General-elect reaffirmed the Organisation’s resolve to construct with its Member States a third alternative, inclusive way of development that places the aspirations of communities and societies towards progress and prosperity at the heart of international decision-making. He expressed OEC’s readiness to support and assist Comoros in bridging the tecno-digital divide and accelerating digital transformation programmes initiated by the government.  

The Comorian President reiterated, in turn, Comoros’ commitment to multilateralism and solidarity-based South-South cooperation and emphasised that OEC and Comoros have a common obligation and responsibility to coordinate their efforts in the realisation of a just, equitable international order. The President emphasised that Comoros will actively contribute to the Organisation to realise its mission.

After having informed the Comorian President regarding the development of OEC’s medium-term-strategy, the Secretary-General-elect committed that OEC would undertake all relevant measures to place the necessary means and resources in order to enable Founding States to forge their own futures in accordance with their national aspirations and development priorities.

H.E. Assoumani stated, in conclusion, that Comoros support the implementation of OEC’s programme and activities, under the leadership of H.E. Bin Mussallam’s, and will proceed with the ratification of OEC’s Constitutive Charter.
