As part of the working agenda of the Oragnisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC) during its official visit to the Republic of Gambia, OEC’s Secretary-General, H.E. Manssour Bin Mussallam, has scheduled work meetings this afternoon with the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, H. E. Claudiana A. Cole, and the Secretary General of the African Curriculum Association (ACA), Dr. Gertrude Namubiru.
The commitment and resolve that his visit constitutes the first step of a relationship between OEC and the Gambia defined by fraternity and brotherhood with the Gambian people and Government, was emphasised by H. E. Bin Mussallam.
Co-organized by the OEC, the African Curriculum Association (ACA), the African Union (AU), the Gambia Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) and UNESCO – International Bureau of Education (UNESCO-IBE), the 3rd African Continental Conference on Curriculum “Education Technology and Curriculum Alignment in the New Era” will be held in Banjul from May 23 to 26, 2022, with opening remarks by the Secretary-General of the OEC.
The Confenece, held on the margins of OEC’s official visit to the Gambia will bring together curriculum developers and implementers, education administrators, partners, teachers, educators and other key stakeholders to discuss and explore solutions to educational challenges in Africa.
Great expectations are generated by the dialogues that H. E. Bin Mussallam will hold with the Vice President of the Republic. H. E. Mr. Badara Alieu Joof, and the Minister of Education for Higher Education, Research and Science, Hon. Professor Pierre Gómez, as these must lead to the articulation of a roadmap so that common aspirations within diversity materialize in the realisation of palpable projects.
The doors to the collective construction, from the Global South, of a third way of development for the well-being of its citizens through the promotion of deeply inclusive educational projects, will open even more during the meeting with various technical teams from the Gambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
In addition, the interests and motivations of children and young people as change-makers of the future will be known during the exchange that will be organized at “St. Peter’s Technical Junior and Senior Secondary School” next Tuesday when the mission in the African nation concludes.
